Lead CT Technologist - Imaging | UPMC Hamot

UPMC Hamot is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead CT Technologist to join our Imaging team. This full-time leadership role is ideal for a CT professional who is passionate about high-quality patient care, staff development, and operational excellence while continuing to work hands-on in a clinical setting.

As a Level II Trauma Center and designated Stroke Center, UPMC Hamot offers a dynamic, high-acuity environment where advanced skills, strong decision-making, and teamwork are essential. The Lead CT Technologist plays a key role in supporting daily operations, mentoring staff, and helping drive departmental success.

This full-time position works rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility in scheduling. The role may also provide coverage at the Imaging Center on Peach as needed.

In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of $20,000 with a 2-year work commitment.

Responsibilities:

    1. Assists with quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols alongside of or in place of advanced technologists and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
    1. Performs all responsibilities of CT Tech I and Advanced CT Tech II.
    1. Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with technologists when necessary.
    1. Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
    1. Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of technologist candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
    1. Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program.

CT Specialty Boards Completed. 3 years CT experience required.

Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

ARRT certified as a CT Technologist. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
