Confidential Employer CNC Press Brake Operator in Erie, Pennsylvania
Setup and safely operate CNC Press Brakes to process/produce highest quality products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Set up and operate CNC and manual press brakes to bend, form, and shape sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, dies, punches, and back gauges for each job.
- Interpret complex fabrication drawings, bend deductions, flat patterns, and material specifications.
- Perform quality checks using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, protractors, height gauges, etc.).
- Verify accuracy of machine settings to account for material variations, springback, confirm accurate tolerances, and machine functions; in-process checks will be required to maintain all required tolerances and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform minor machine maintenance, and ensure proper functioning of press brake equipment.
- Maintain adherence to tight tolerances and quality standards across all fabricated components; operators are required to maintain accurate parts and motivation on routine repetitive jobs.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize setups and workflows.
- Uphold strict safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Train and mentor junior operators as needed.
- Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
- Communicates all production related items to next shift operators or shift supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of experience operating CNC press brakes in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Experience with CNC programming, including Amada, Trumpf, Accurpress, Cincinnati, Bystronic, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal behavior, bend allowances, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and fabrication drawings.
- Proven ability to work with tight tolerances and complex part geometries.
- Proficiency with standard measuring and inspection tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on your own and up to 200+ lbs. in a team lift or with equipment assistance
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, stand for 10 hours
- Ability to work in high temperatures
- Ability to communicate needs and concerns in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand process sheets
- Ability to hear horns, buzzers, and an intercom page
- Ability to wear proper PPE- safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and steel or safety toe shoes or boots
