Wabtec Corporation Broadcast Audio Visual Support Engineer in Erie, Pennsylvania
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Broadcast Engineer to join our technical team. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless transmission of audio and video content across multiple platforms. The position will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to provide day-to-day operations including support, communication of issues, maintenance required, and troubleshooting. There is a high level of “on demand” customer service while managing executive meetings along with presentations within video conferencing and webcasting technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
System Maintenance & Operation
Install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment including cameras, audio consoles, transmitters, and automation systems.
Monitor signal quality and transmission paths to ensure uninterrupted broadcast.
Install Teams conferencing systems
Design and install equipment in conference rooms.
Design, installation and programming of Digital Signage platforms.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose and resolve technical issues in real time during live broadcasts.
Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on hardware and software systems.
Transmission & Networking
Manage RF, IP, and fiber transmission systems.
Upgrades & Innovation
Give recommendations and possible solutions. Interact with third party vendors when necessary.
Identify process improvements for all supported functions and equipment
Assist with operations of AV assets and other Wabtec sites and initiatives including supporting software and firmware upgrades
Maintain documentation for all AV equipment use and supporting processes
Graphic Design & Visual Support
Create visually engaging graphics for presentations, digital signage, internal communications, and executive meetings.
Support the Senior Communications Manager by developing layouts, templates, and visual assets that align with brand guidelines.
Edit and optimize images, video thumbnails, lower thirds, title cards, and other visual elements for webcasts and video conferencing.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure visual materials clearly communicate key messages and technical information.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to work under pressure in live broadcast environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with cloud-based broadcast solutions and IP workflows.
Experience with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, or similar editing platforms.
Knowledge of emerging technologies in streaming and digital media.
Very high level of customer service
Excellent communications skills both written and oral
Excellent organization and time management skills
Able to cope with changing and conflicting priorities
Ability to work and deal with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers and global staff
Upload and revise web pages, graphics, and content
Experience with graphic design tools is preferred, including platforms such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar design software.
Education/Training:
High school diploma or a technical degree or equivalent skilled trades or vocational training experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience.
Experience in the following equipment and programming:
Lectrosonic/Shure wireless microphones, Auto Mixers and Hybrids
Epiphan Pearl and Nano Video Encoders
Crestron audio/video control systems
Vaddio and Sony cameras and controls
Knowledge of AV standards (HDMI, SDI, HDBaseT, Dante, etc.)
Behringer X32, Soundcraft Si-Impact and Allen & Heath audio boards
Tricaster 410/8000/Mini video switching systems
Broadcast Pix video switching systems
AT&T and Verizon Metro Cell Cellular phone extenders
Teams Conferencing systems
Shoot video and audio and upload via multiple codecs as needed.
Knowledge of Strand Dimmer Board operation and programming
Program and update Wabtec digital signage systems with Screencloud software
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Support 160+ Teams Rooms and Conference rooms
Physical Demands :
Employee is regularly required to talk and hear
Employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds
The position requires the employee to be on-site to perform daily duties and responsibilities
Willing to travel 25 - 50% of the time
Additional Information
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $79,100-$112,800. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
