JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Title: Harbormaster (Manager) Position: Full Time Seasonal May 1 Oct 15. Start date may be later based upon weather conditions. Schedule: Manager to set schedule & day\'s off for self and hourly dockmasters - Coverage required on weekends during peak summer season. Reports To: Directly to EYH President (Tom Goelz). In-Directly to EYH Ops Team (Joshua Kahn). General Position Summary The Harbormaster (Manager) is responsible for overseeing a 45-slip private marina covering all aspects to manage the Ephraim Yacht Harbor\'s (EYH) daily operations, including customer service, facility upkeep, employee supervision of seasonal Dockmasters, scheduling, and financial administration. As a working manager, this individual will supervise staff and contractors while also performing hands-on tasks to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient marina operations. Responsibilities also include fostering positive customer relationships to deliver the highest standard of service and uphold the Ephraim Yacht Harbor experience. This role encompasses spring setup, summer operations, and fall closing. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Administration Serve as the primary point of contact for slip holders, transient boaters, and vendors. Manage slip assignments, contracts, billing, and payment processing. Respond promptly to customer inquiries, concerns, and service requests. Maintain accurate records of slip occupancy, fuel, ice, merchandise sales, and service transactions. Assist customers with docking, departure, lines, and power connections. Assist customers with loading and unloading personal items upon arrival. Manage annual customer appreciation dock party (Prepare, Setup, cook, clean-up). Operations & Facility Maintenance Perform hands-on dock and facility maintenance, including minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Inspect docks, utilities, and equipment regularly; address issues directly or coordinate contractor services as needed. Maintain harbor docks, grounds, landscaping, restrooms, office, common areas, and storage facilities. Operate marina equipment (e.g., fuel pumps, golf carts, Pump-out and maintenance tools) in a safe manner, as required. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including federal, state, and local laws. Communicate requirements and actions to the President (& Board of Directors) in a timely manner. Leadership & Staff Oversight Hire, train, and schedule seasonal staff or Dockmasters. Conduct new hire orientation and train staff on job duties, responsibilities, and customer service expectations. Provide daily direction and assist dock-workers with hands-on duties when needed. Promote a safe, professional, and customer-focused workplace. Conduct and document employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions, and communicate with Supervisor, when necessary, of such actions. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications Sought: Prior marina experience, boating operations & skills, and/or management experience strongly preferred. Hands-on maintenance ability, with basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work with dockhands side-by-side to train, monitor and mentor their growth and knowledge Experience in office administration, billing, and recordkeeping. Appropriate knowledge to maintain records in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other standard software programs. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during the prime boating season (JuneAugust). Availability for flexible hours during spring setup (AprilMay) and fall close-up (OctoberNovember).
