S&P Global Associate Director - Structured Credit - CLO Ratings in Englewood, Colorado

The Team: The U.S. Structured Credit - CLO team is part of the broader Structured Finance Group at S&P Global Ratings. The team assigns and monitors credit ratings for securitizations backed by broadly syndicated or middle market corporate loans. The practice provides credit ratings of structured products that are backed by pools of assets, mainly focused on Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) transactions.

Impact and Responsibilities:

Impact: The Associate Director is an integral part of the analytical team, responsible for cash flow modeling and transaction document analysis in support of new issue ratings and surveillance of CLO transactions. The Associate Director reviews documents as pertain to CLO criteria and conducts cash flow analyses to stress test structures and enhancement levels under various economic scenarios. The Associate Director participates in credit rating committees and interacts with bankers, issuers, and investors on analytical matters, directly contributing to S&P Global Ratings’ reputation as a leading credit rating agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed reviews of legal and operating documents to ensure compliance with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure

  • Perform CLO cash flow analysis (new issue and surveillance), synthesize results, and articulate key drivers, sensitivities, and rating implications for committee discussion

  • Act as a recognized CLO subject matter expert within the team, frequently advising colleagues on complex structures, criteria applications, and analytical conclusions

  • Participate in client meetings and credit rating committees; communicate analysis clearly and adapt messaging to different audiences (internal committees, arrangers, issuers, investors)

  • Actively manage relationships with issuers, intermediaries and investors while effectively communicating S&P Global Ratings’ methodologies and procedures

  • Take accountability for consistent, sustainable execution by strengthening analytical workflows, documentation standards, and quality controls (beyond individual transactions)

  • Work collaboratively across teams and functions to incorporate diverse perspectives, build trust, and drive alignment on analytical outcomes and process improvements

  • Work on special projects as directed by the analytical team manager, including initiatives that improve functional operations through data-driven analysis and practical recommendations

  • Coach and empower junior team members on modeling, document review, and committeepreparedness; provide constructive feedback to support development

  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week

Compensation/Benefits Information: * _(applicable for US candidates only)_ *:  S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $135,000 to $175,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of experience in Structured Finance (CLO, ABS, MBS, etc.) or previous experience in related financial services roles

  • Strong proficiency with Excel, financial models and financial data

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, mathematics, or related fields that demonstrate strong analytical capabilities

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and their relationship to S&P Global products, including how CLO performance and structural features interact across credit cycles

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex analytical conclusions clearly across different audiences and situations

  • Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner, including evaluating alternatives and recommending actions based on rigorous analysis

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and resources effectively, adapting to shifting timelines, new information, and changing market conditions while maintaining quality

  • All candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process are required to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at the nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before an offer can beprogressed.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent research and project management skills

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline or a Juris Doctorate degree

  • Prior legal document review preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team, building trust and fostering a sense of belonging

  • Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed
