Position Summary
The Apprentice position is the starting point of a professional career at Weatherwize. Apprentices support restoration and maintenance crews in the cleaning, repair, protection, and renewal of log homes. This role focuses on hands-on learning, teamwork, and safety. Apprentices assist technicians and crew leaders on-site while developing the technical skills and craftsmanship required to advance within the company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Preparation & Support
Load, unload, and stage tools, materials, and supplies each morning.
Set up scaffolding, ladders, and safety equipment as instructed.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free job sites.
2. Restoration Assistance
Assist with cleaning, sanding, stripping, staining, sealing, and chinking.
Handle materials such as stains, caulks, and protective coatings safely.

4. Safety & Conduct
Follow all company safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
Participate in daily safety briefings and weekly Safety meetings.
Maintain professional grooming and uniform standards as outlined in the Technician Manual.
5. Learning & Growth
Learn Weatherwize-approved restoration, repair, and staining methods.
Complete assigned training and supervised practice activities on Paylocity.
Exhibit initiative, teamwork, and continuous improvement each day.
Performance Expectations
Arrive on time and ready to work (7:30 AM start unless otherwise assigned).
Display a positive attitude and respect toward all team members and customers.
Follow instructions carefully, ensuring all tasks meet Weatherwize standards.
Show steady progress in safety knowledge, craftsmanship, and reliability.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
Work at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
Stand, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Tolerate outdoor work conditions in all seasons.
Qualifications
No prior experience required - training provided.
Valid Michigan driver's license preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel to regional job sites.
Dependable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn a skilled trade.
