IRI Innovative Resources for Independence Inc Behavior Intervention Specialist in Elmont, New York
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide behavior support planning to assigned individuals and staff at IRI.
2. Develop, evaluate, and revise behavioral treatment plans at least in a semi manual basis as well as on as needed basis while working under the general supervision of an experienced PhD psychologist and Director of Clinical Services and Data Analytics
3. Train staff on implementation of all prescribed behavior supports and individualized protocols reviewed and approved by the agencys Licensed Psychologist. Trainings include but are not limited to: Positive Behavior Support, Functional Communication, data collection, etc.
4. Consult with other professionals regarding the individuals behavioral and psychosocial status.
5. Maintain all required documentation in accordance with agency policies and governing regulatory standards.
6. Prepare, monitor and revise as necessary behavior treatment plans, psychosocial assessment for individuals and present at their annual reviews.
7. Participate in all interdisciplinary team meetings as needed, including intake screenings.
8. Consult with family members, programs, and treating clinicians to review status and recommendations for each individual.
9. Participate in all agency-wide committees as assigned.
10. Visit individuals at each assigned residence in accordance with a regular schedule.
11. Report all incidents to their immediate supervisor.
12. Uphold and maintain professional ethics and behavior.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education:(1) Masters degree from an accredited program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development. OR
(2) A national board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master's degree in behavior analysis; or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology
Minimum Experience:At least five years of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans.
Other Qualifications: Communication - Behavior Intervention Specialist needs to communicate by being able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.
Writing - Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to communicate effectively in writing using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Must have the ability to travel primarily in Queens but also in Brooklyn, Bronx, and Long Island. A staff is considered a generalist and is thus expected to do any job assigned in providing services to individuals served by IRI. 2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee should be able to drive, although employees without cars must be able to travel by public transportation. The employee is occasionally required to keep balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 3. Computer Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to use a computer, operate a fax, copier, scan, and be able to learn software programs 4. Driving - Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to drive to and from their daily scheduled appointments. If taking public transportation, the Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to ensure timely arrival to scheduled appointments.
