Transdev Bus Aide in Elmira, New York

We are currently on the lookout for a Part Time Bus Aide to join our elite team in Elmira, NY As a key member, you will be entrusted with assisting in ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our school children, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

  • Year Round work following Elmira and Horseheads School schedules including Summer School.

  • This is a part time position so there are no benefits

Policy. Key Responsibilities:

  • Knows the route and remains alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while in route

  • Communicates behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver

  • Assists in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus

  • Assists students in the loading and unloading process

  • Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, students, and parents

  • Attends all safety and training meetings

  • Conducts emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door

  • Opens and closes service doors and moves up and down steps multiple times daily

  • Cleans the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows. Cleans outsidewindows of the bus.

  • Assists driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards

  • Other specialized functions as required by contract.

Qualifications:

  • 21 yearsor older

  • Excellentcommunication &customerserviceskills.

  • Mustbe able toworkshifts orflexible workschedulesasneeded.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Workoutsideinvaryingtemperature,weather,andhumidityconditions-100%ofthejobisperformed outside, work alone and in remote locations.

  • Sitforextendedperiods (upto6–8hours perday);frequentlywalkforlongdistances andonpossible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces

  • Pushandpullobjectsupto 25 pounds,occasionallythroughouttheworkday;liftmaterialweighingupto 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level

  • Withstandheavytrafficareaswhileperformingthedutiesofthejob;tolerateexposuretoconsiderable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
