Inspectors will inspect and grade fruit, both in the field or shed, according to marketing specifications. Estimates weight of product visually and by feel. Verifies count. Looks at, feels and smells product as required to determine grade and identify substandard peaches. Workers will assist orchard supervisor with quality control and harvesting scheduling to ensure premium quality. Will assist with field hauling scheduling. Will maintain records and will interact with harvest employees. Workers may be required to enter information into computer
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.
Farm, and Field Sanitation All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm sanitation duties. Crew leader: A worker found to be qualified may perform various duties of a working crew leader. Only workers with verifiable experience will be assigned this duty. This job will include working on quality control and scheduling of orchard duties with the supervisor or owner. Job specifications can change frequently during the season due to crop or market conditions, even on the same crop. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instruction given by the supervisor for each days work
Requirements:
- 2 months experience in fruit and vegetable duties listed
- Drug Screen
- Lifting requirement 75 lbs.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
