Elementary Special Education Teacher – Full Time

Location: Ellicott City, MD

Positions Available: 3

Start Date: ASAP (Estimated: January 26, 2026)

Duration: Remainder of the 2025–2026 School Year

Potential Extension: Yes — may extend into the 2026–2027 School Year

Schedule: 35 hours/week (specific hours vary by school)

Position Overview

Amergis Staffing is seeking experienced, student-centered Elementary Special Education Teachers to provide specialized instruction and support for students with disabilities in grades K–5. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher participates as part of a collaborative team to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapt learning materials, support inclusion, and ensure students receive high-quality, individualized instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, write, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs.

  • Deliver specialized instruction through small-group, pull-out, push-in, or co-teaching models.

  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Collect, analyze, and utilize student performance data to guide instruction.

  • Collaborate with families, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service staff.

  • Maintain a safe, supportive, inclusive classroom environment.

  • Serve as a case manager for assigned students, ensuring IEP compliance and documentation.

  • Utilize IEP Online for documentation and progress monitoring.

  • Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development.

  • Comply with federal, state, and district regulations and professional practice standards.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • MSDE Special Education Certification — Required

  • No conditional or provisional licenses accepted

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)

  • Minimum 1 year of Special Education teaching experience

  • Preferred Certifications:

  • Standard Elementary Teaching

  • Standard Special Education

  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1)

  • CPR certification (if applicable)

  • TB questionnaire/PPD/chest X-ray (if applicable)

  • Current health certificate (if required by state/contract)

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
