Job Title: 1st Shift OEM Machine Builder
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder to join our team, responsible for assembling custom machinery by interpreting high-level machine building blueprints. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision equipment, tools, and calibration equipment, along with the ability to operate mills, lathes, grinders, and welding machines.
Responsibilities
Follow directions from Engineering and Shop Management to build simple and complex custom machines.
Understand the storage and retrieval of work-in-process parts and inventory supplies.
Operate shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, welders, and various hand tools.
Demonstrate a creative mindset and problem-solving skills to overcome technical mechanical challenges.
Pursue excellence and high-quality craftsmanship in all tasks.
Understand, implement, and adhere to quality standards.
Show ambition and inner drive to meet or beat project deadlines.
Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Essential Skills
3-5+ years of custom machine building experience with tolerances of +/- .0005.
Ability to read and interpret high-level machine building blueprints and symbols.
Proficiency in machining with mills, lathes, grinders, and welders.
Ability to assemble, measure, and test precision components and assemblies.
Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings.
Ownership and ability to use hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
Physical ability to bend, lift, climb, and crawl.
Willingness to travel as needed, up to 20% of the year, primarily domestically.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
CAD skills, particularly with Solidworks software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Experience with precision measuring instruments like dial indicators and calipers.
Expertise in custom machine building principles.
Understanding and experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Hydraulic tube bending experience is a plus.

Work Environment
Experience a small mom-and-pop shop feel while working on unique machine builds for prestigious clients like NASA and international research institutions. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2:30/3:30 pm, with overtime on Saturdays being rare. Average working hours range from 40-45 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
