Aerotek Cnc Maintenance Technician in Elkhart, Indiana

Job Title: 1st Shift Multi-Craft CNC Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance for a wide range of CNC and industrial equipment in a high-volume machine shop. You will perform both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs, support new equipment installations, and ensure reliable operation of CNC mills, lathes, robots, and associated systems. The position requires a strong multi-craft background, the ability to work independently, and the discipline to follow established maintenance schedules and procedures on a consistent 1st shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machinery and related equipment, including lubricating and greasing components, changing coolant and filters, and replacing small parts as needed.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on CNC mills, lathes, bar feeders, turrets, turning tables, and other custom engineered equipment using strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Troubleshoot and repair systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, sensors, pumps, and valves to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation.

  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting up to 480V 3-phase, including using a multi-meter to chase down issues, identify faults, and verify proper operation of circuits and components.

  • Run and install wiring for new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper connections, routing, and adherence to safety and facility standards.

  • Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics to guide troubleshooting, repairs, and installation work.

  • Support CNC equipment reliability by identifying root causes of recurring issues and recommending or implementing corrective actions.

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on Fanuc robots and other automation components as needed to support production.

  • Use own tools and toolbox to perform daily maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively.

  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, coordinate downtime, and support a smooth workflow across the shop.

  • Work independently to manage assigned work orders, document completed tasks, and communicate equipment status and issues clearly.

  • Adapt to a large, custom-engineered equipment environment and become proficient with a wide variety of machines and systems over time.

  • Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and facility guidelines while working around high-voltage equipment, moving machinery, and industrial tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
