Quality Assurance (QA) Lead – Food Manufacturing
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM
Pay Rate: $24/hour
Overtime: Potential for overtime on Fridays once converted to full-time
Terms : 6 month contract-to-hire
Qualifications
Experience in food quality or food manufacturing environment
Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety programs
SQF and/or HACCP certification preferred (not required)
Basic computer skills required
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented QA Technician to support quality and food safety operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on lab testing, documentation, and GMP compliance , ensuring the safety and quality of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Lab Testing
Perform routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products
Execute microbiological analysis and environmental monitoring programs
Conduct quality testing using various lab equipment and methods
Identify and escalate out-of-specification (OOS) results and place materials on hold as needed
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate lab documentation including COAs, lab sheets, and testing records
Manage vendor and customer COAs
Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards
Support prerequisite programs including allergen control, hold/release, and sample retention
Lab Operations & Maintenance
Perform daily/weekly calibration of lab equipment and report any issues
Maintain lab cleanliness and organization (MSS standards)
Monitor lab supply levels and coordinate replenishment as needed
Continuous Improvement & Training
Assist with training new QA Technicians
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the lab
Identify recurring quality or food safety issues and propose solutions
