Aerotek Maintenance Technician in Elk Grove Village, Illinois

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This role is for a Maintenance Technician in a GMP environment where marshmallows are produced. The technician will respond to repair requests for production machinery and building equipment throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to restore machinery to satisfactory running condition.

  • Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, and verbal instructions to perform tasks.

  • Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and repairs on plant equipment including bagging machines, conveyors, case erectors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.

  • Conduct basic rebuilding of gearboxes, motors, and small pneumatic equipment.

  • Analyze existing problems and provide innovative solutions.

  • Unload powdered and liquid raw materials from rail cars as needed.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant process and utility equipment, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspection.

  • Assist with equipment installations and upgrades.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems.

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, particularly in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance repair.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.

  • Strong understanding of electrical maintenance, including 3-phase motors, variable frequency drives, controls, and troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must supply own hand tools and safely use power tools.

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights including rooftops and silos, and lift 70 pounds safely.

  • Some knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic operations.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; vocational training or AA/AS degree is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the A-B control platform and vertical bagging and scale equipment is a plus.

  • Industrial maintenance experience preferred; food industry or confections experience is a plus.

  • Open to trade school graduates/entry-level candidates.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $31.13/hr.
