Job Title: CNC Milling Machinist
Job Description
This position is for an experienced CNC Milling Machinist who operates a variety of CNC milling machines with FANUC controls in a high‑volume production environment. You will machine large, high‑value castings and forgings into precision components that meet strict quality, dimensional, and customer specifications while supporting efficient, safe, and organized shop operations across multiple machines and jobs.
Responsibilities
Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, work instructions, and specifications to produce precision components to exact requirements.
Perform complex and progressive CNC milling operations on a wide variety of large parts and complex components to close tolerances and specified surface finishes.
Operate CNC milling machines using FANUC controls in a production shop environment, maintaining consistent quality and throughput.
Perform basic setups and adjustments for multiple jobs, including loading programs, setting tools, and establishing work offsets as required.
Run and monitor more than one machine when appropriate to support production efficiency and throughput goals.
Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools and techniques to verify conformance to quality, dimensional, and cosmetic requirements.
Identify and correct minor machining issues, making necessary adjustments to tooling, offsets, and machine parameters within defined limits.
Support changeovers between jobs, including cleaning, retooling, and reconfiguring machines to meet new part requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping expectations.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe material handling practices.
Assist with general production needs and other machining or shop tasks as assigned to support overall workflow and on‑time delivery.
Communicate effectively with teammates and leadership regarding part issues, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
Work scheduled shifts and be willing to work overtime, including some weekends, to meet production demands when needed.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and write English and understand written work instructions and blueprints.
Preferred five or more years of combined formal training and machining experience or equivalent experience in CNC machining.
Broad knowledge of machining techniques and proven familiarity with CNC machine tool operating procedures.
Hands‑on experience operating CNC milling machines, preferably with FANUC controls, in a production environment.
Strong blueprint reading ability, including understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and geometric features.
Ability to apply recognized tooling, cutting parameters, and machining procedures to hold tight tolerances and achieve specified finishes.
Basic computer skills to navigate machine controls, input data, and follow digital work instructions.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
Ability to consistently lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, with the capability to handle heavier items as necessary.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Commitment to following safety rules, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Formal technical or vocational training in machining, CNC operation, or manufacturing is preferred.
Experience working with large parts, castings, and forgings in a heavy machining or job‑shop environment.
Familiarity with vertical and horizontal milling machines, including large‑format equipment.
Experience performing multiple setups and running more than one CNC machine simultaneously.
Strong problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot machining issues and suggest process improvements.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.
Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to work overtime and weekends when needed.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new machines, tooling, and processes as the shop evolves.

Work Environment
The role is based in a well‑organized, clean, and safe manufacturing facility equipped with more than 61 machines dedicated to large‑scale machining. The shop runs approximately 25% vertical mills and 75% horizontal mills, including Toyoda, Makino, Niigata, OKK, Matsura, and bore mills, and focuses on machining very large pieces and parts. You work around CNC milling machines with FANUC controls and handle large castings and forgings in a production environment. Standard shift options include a first shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime starting at 5:00 AM when needed, and a second shift from 4:20 PM to 2:50 AM with a 10% shift differential. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with overtime available after 40 hours, double time on Sundays, and 5–7 hours of weekend work that can extend to 10–12 hours for those who want additional hours. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, providing a structured environment where machinists can focus on quality work using modern equipment and established processes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
