Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled machinist to join our team, focusing on precision machining operations. This role involves setting up and operating CNC machines, ensuring the quality of produced parts, and maintaining efficient production processes.
Responsibilities
Check work instructions, material type, and size to ensure accurate job set-up.
Receive and load CNC programs; modify, edit, and adjust to ensure optimum production and efficiency; set appropriate tool off-sets.
Multi-task and set-up, run, or oversee multiple machines to maximize efficiency.
Manufacture or select appropriate tooling and fixtures needed to complete a job.
Run production including secondary operations as instructed and within the routed timeframe on a variety of machinery and equipment, including drill press and deburring equipment.
Visually inspect production for surface finish; check for burrs, scratches, rust, and other defects.
Perform quality checks against blueprints or drawings using a variety of measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, and profile projectors.
Count, mark, and pack parts, if needed.
Perform mechanical tasks such as loading and unloading of vises, fixtures, and parts.
Return all tools to Tool crib and all measuring equipment to the Quality Department.
Communicate instructions and oversee jobs run by lower-skilled personnel as needed.
Keep work area neat and orderly.
Complete Operations Sheet and other appropriate documents neatly and accurately.
Effectively use Real-Time Data Collection for working hours and logging into and out of production.
Work with Lead or Engineering to ensure accurate set-up and run estimated times.
Comply with company and machine safety policies & procedures.
Work in accordance with company Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures, including safety and quality system standards as defined by ISO/AS.
Communicate all production information such as quality issues, scrap rates, and other problems to appropriate personnel.
Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes, and product quality.
Follow all written and oral instructions.
Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
Accept and complete other duties as assigned to meet company needs.
Essential Skills
Expert technical ability to set-up and run secondary operations, including drill press, deburring, and polishing.
Ability to load, unload tools, and enter offsets as necessary.
Expert technical ability to read, modify, and edit programs.
Expert ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
Strong ability to use and interpret appropriate calibrated metrology devices for piece part inspection.
Distinguish different raw materials (e.g., Stainless Steel vs. Cold Rolled Steel).
Understand machining properties of various raw materials (e.g., 303SST vs. 304SST).
Maintain a working knowledge of appropriate mathematical skills (e.g., basic trigonometry).
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA-required training in Lock-out / Tag-out, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Emergency Evacuation.
In-house training on all assigned machinery and equipment.

Work Environment
This is a job shop environment with low quantity runs, averaging 20-100 pieces. The standard shift is from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., currently extended to 3:30 p.m. due to workload. Employees work approximately 50 hours a week when fully trained. Our smaller shop has 22 workers on the 1st shift and features 6 brand new CNC machines.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
