Kelly Services Reach Truck Operator - Material Handler in Elgin, Illinois

Job Title: Electronics Material Handler I – Reach Truck Forklift Operator (Bilingual – Spanish)

Location: Elgin, IL

Schedule: First Shift – Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $19.00/hour (starting)

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Position Summary

The Electronics Material Handler I – Reach Truck Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating powered industrial trucks to move, stack, and load/unload materials within a warehouse or distribution center environment. This position requires experience operating stand-up reach trucks, maneuvering in narrow aisles, and using RF scanners to maintain accurate inventory records.

This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity with the potential for permanent placement based on performance, attendance, and business needs. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling

  • Load, unload, stage, and transport inventory from trucks, trailers, or containers.

  • Accurately move and position materials throughout the warehouse.

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate stand-up reach trucks, order pickers, and dock equipment.

  • Stack and retrieve products from high racking systems.

  • Navigate narrow aisles and tight warehouse spaces safely and efficiently.

Safety & Compliance

  • Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections.

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.

  • Report damages, mechanical issues, or safety hazards immediately.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Inventory Control

  • Utilize Radio Frequency (RF) scanners to track, scan, and record inventory movement.

  • Maintain accuracy in inventory documentation and counts.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 12 months of stand-up reach truck forklift experience (required).

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent ( GED required ).

Language Requirement

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required) .
