Job Title: Production Assembler

Job Description

The Production Assembler works on the manufacturing floor assembling wire harnesses and cable assemblies, as well as small electronic components on plastic parts. This role follows detailed work orders and production drawings to build high-quality products in a clean, organized, and team-oriented environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to maintaining production standards and safety practices.

Pay range: $19-$22

Responsibilities

  • Assemble wire harness and cable assemblies according to work orders and production drawings.

  • Perform small-part assembly by attaching electronic components onto plastic pieces with precision and care.

  • Read and interpret work orders, production drawings, and related documentation to determine assembly requirements.

  • Position, align, and secure parts to each other to ensure proper fit, function, and quality.

  • Use hand tools and power tools, including crimping tools and soldering equipment, as needed for assembly tasks.

  • Perform kitting activities by gathering and organizing parts and materials required for specific jobs.

  • Carry out electrical and wiring assembly tasks in line with established procedures and quality standards.

  • Follow standardized production processes and adhere to all safety and quality guidelines.

  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and contribute to the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the production area.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently when required.

  • Complete other duties as assigned to support production goals and departmental needs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with production assembly in a manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with wire harness and cable assembly.

  • Ability to perform kitting and organize parts and materials for production.

  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Basic soldering skills for electronic and electrical assembly tasks.

  • Ability to read and follow work orders, production drawings, and basic blueprints.

  • Experience with electrical assembly and wiring tasks.

  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for small-piece assembly.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on the production floor.

  • Reliable work habits and commitment to meeting production and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electronic assembly experience is a plus.

  • Blueprint reading skills are highly beneficial.

  • Familiarity with crimping tools and techniques is advantageous.

  • Comfort working in a lean manufacturing environment.

  • Willingness to rotate between workstations as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, lean manufacturing environment within a modern, well-maintained facility. The building is divided into distinct assembly departments, and this position works in the cable solutions area. The production floor is climate controlled, well-lit, and highly organized, with each assembler assigned their own workstation or rotating between stations as needed. The facility includes an on-site café offering breakfast, lunch, and snack options, as well as locker rooms with locks provided for personal storage. The company supplies all required personal protective equipment. Work is performed using standard assembly tools, including hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment, in a structured, process-driven setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
