Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Critical Care Tech provides basic patient care under the direction of the RN/LVN in accordance with the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center. As the Monitor Technician, will also be responsible for monitoring he Sepsis Prevention and Optimization of Therapy (SPOT) application. SPOT requires continuous observation and real time feedback to RNs requiring possible sepsis intervention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs, cardiac monitoring and basic EKG.
Participates in the unit based Quality Improvement process.
Practices ,endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient’s right to privacy and protection of patient’s confidentiality.
Plans, organizes and communicates changes in patient’s heart rate and rhythm to the Registered Nurse.
Monitors and documents EKG heart rate and rhythm for every monitored patient every 4 hours.
Troubleshoots patient monitoring equipment and notifies biomedical engineering promptly of any unresolved equipment issues. Responds immediately to Sepsis Prevention and Optimization of Therapy alerts with accurate tier placement and notification to RN.

What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
