Position Description:
Principal administrative officer of a college/library in the Texas Tech University System. The chief responsibility is the development, supervision, and operation of the academic programs of the college or school in accordance with established guidelines, governmental regulations, and the mission of Texas Tech. The dean and staff serve as consultants on all academic matters, such as course changes, choice of major, and degree requirements.

Major/Essential Functions:
Provides visionary leadership for the education, research, and clinical service missions of the school
Directs strategic planning, allocates resources to support growth, and advances the school's strategic priorities, in collaboration with associate deans, faculty, and university leadership
Maintains a visible presence within TTUHSC El Paso and the external community, advocating for the school in interdisciplinary initiatives and representing it on the President's Executive Committee and relevant regional, state, and national task forces
Oversees faculty recruitment, retention, evaluation, and professional development, including tenure and promotion review processes, in collaboration with university leadership
Provides coordinated oversight of the nursing curriculum, ensuring excellence in academic programs and instructional methodologies
Engages faculty, students, university leadership, and advisory groups in the review of academic goals, program outcomes, policies, and procedures to promote student success and program excellence
Manages the school's budget, directs administration of grants and external funding, and leads development and fundraising efforts to support scholarships and program initiatives
Leads development and advancement efforts to support scholarships, faculty initiatives, and departmental priorities, and ensures effective communication, contracting, and coordination of community engagement activities
Cultivates strong relationships with the executive leadership of TTUHSC El Paso, its component schools, clinical partners, and community organizations
Contributes to nursing research and education, while carrying a reduced teaching load consistent with administrative responsibilities
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

A national reputation as a scholar and an academic leader, with a documented record of achievement
Sustained scholarly productivity, demonstrated through active research agenda or a record of externally funded projects
Insight into emerging opportunities and challenges in nursing profession, nursing education, and the broader healthcare landscape
Proven ability to lead an academic organization and to work collaboratively with community partners, interdisciplinary teams, and colleagues across a complex health sciences university environment

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Nursing; or a related discipline plus a Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution; or D.N.P.
Credentials appropriate for the rank of full Professor at TTUHSC El Paso Hunt School of Nursing, with an outstanding record of scholarly achievement and teaching excellence
Eligibility for Texas license as a registered nurse
Minimum of five years' experience in academic nursing
Minimum of five years' experience in higher education administration
Proficiency in informatics, with experience in distance learning and telemedicine
Demonstrated leadership in faculty management, recruitment, budgeting, staff development, accreditation, and program evaluation
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to provide effective school leadership
Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and instructional methodologies
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice, including current standards of care, and evolving models of clinical education
Awareness of current trends and issues in nursing and nursing education
