Job Overview

Responsible for developing, programming, and sustaining CNC lathe machining processes within a precision manufacturing environment. This role focuses on CNC turning (including live tooling), SolidWorks modeling, CNC CAM programming (Mastercam/Esprit), process development, and production support to ensure efficient, repeatable, and high-quality manufacturing. Primary objective is to improve machining efficiency, reduce cycle time, and support on-time delivery through robust process design and hands-on shop floor execution.

Job Requirements

CNC Lathe Programming

  • Develop, program, and optimize CNC lathe programs (multi-axis with live tooling)

  • Generate efficient toolpaths to maximize productivity and surface finish quality

  • Select tooling, cutting strategies, and speeds/feeds appropriate for materials and geometry

  • Support program prove-out, debugging, and optimization on the shop floor

CNC CAM (Mastercam / Esprit)

  • Create and maintain CNC programs using Mastercam and/or Esprit

  • Optimize toolpaths for turning, mill-turn, and complex geometries

  • Maintain program revision control and ensure consistency across jobs

SolidWorks Modeling

  • Create and modify 3D models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks

  • Support design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews

  • Develop models for fixturing, workholding, and process validation

Process Development

  • Develop and document machining processes for new and existing components

  • Define workholding, tooling, and datum strategies

  • Establish repeatable processes capable of meeting tolerance and quality requirements

Production Support

  • Provide hands-on support to machinists and operators during setup and production

  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine performance

  • Drive process stability and consistency across production runs

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for cycle time reduction and throughput improvement

  • Reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield

  • Support lean manufacturing and cost reduction initiatives

Documentation

  • Create and maintain setup sheets, work instructions, tooling lists, and process documentation

  • Maintain program revision control and configuration management

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure manufacturability

  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe machining practices and adherence to safety standards

  • Comply with all company and regulatory requirements

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 3–6 years of CNC machining / programming experience (lathe-focused)

  • Strong experience with CNC turning (multi-axis preferred, including 2-axis, 3-axis, and mill-turn/live tooling environments)

  • Strong working knowledge of CNC CAM software (Mastercam and/or Esprit)

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling and drawing creation)

  • Strong understanding of GD&T and machining tolerances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with CNC CAM software (Mastercam and Esprit preferred)

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines (5 to 9 axis preferred)

  • Experience with mill-turn or Swiss-type machines

  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $75,600 - 85,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
