Your role and responsibilities

As a Back-End Developer for IBM Z, you will design, develop, unit test, and deliver offerings for IBM Z using agile practices and DevOps tooling. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Develop and Deliver Offerings: Design, develop, unit test, and deliver high-quality offerings for IBM Z, such as z/OS, zTPF, zVM, and zVSE, using agile practices and DevOps tooling.

• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively to understand client requirements, design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements.

• Ensure Quality and Resiliency: Ensure world-class quality and resiliency in solutions, supporting strategic imperatives including artificial intelligence and cloud.

• Program in Various Languages: Program in languages such as HLASM/Assembler, Java, C/C++ to design and create z/OS applications, work with z/OS subsystems, and mainframe storage solutions and database technologies.

In more detail you´ll be a developer in System Z I/O Configuration Management. Responsible for z/OS HCD, a product with 35 years of history. Your responsibilities will be maintenance and development support, as well as extension of the existing code base supporting our next machine generations. Communication, global cross-team collaboration, development, test, support and documentation for efficiency and quality improvements to our product.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Exposure to Agile Practices: Experience working with agile practices and DevOps tooling to design, develop, and deliver software offerings.

• Programming Skills: Exposure to programming languages such as HLASM/Assembler, Java, C/C++, PL/1, PL/X for developing z/OS applications and working with z/OS subsystems.

• Mainframe Technologies: Experience working with IBM Z offerings such as z/OS, zTPF, zVM, and zVSE and database technologies, including IMS and DB2.

• Collaborative Development: Exposure to collaborative development environments, working with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and design solutions.

• Unit Testing and Delivery: Experience with unit testing and delivering high-quality software offerings for IBM Z, such as z/OS, zTPF, zVM, and zVSE.

• Excellent communication skills in German & English.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Mainframe Security Knowledge: Exposure to z/OS security concepts, including RACF, SSL, SSO, and Multi-Factor Authentication, to design and implement secure solutions.

• z/OS Subsystems Familiarity: Experience working with z/OS subsystems, such as CICS and IMS, to develop and deliver high-quality offerings.

• Cloud and AI Understanding: Familiarity with artificial intelligence and cloud technologies can help in developing innovative solutions that align with strategic imperatives.
