Air Force Materiel Command Lead Accounting Technician in Eglin AFB, Florida
Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office. Position is Regular Part Time (RPT) guaranteed 20 hours per week but may work up to 40. RPT employees receive benefits (Health/Life Insurance; 401K & AFNAF Retirement Plan; Annual/Sick Leave and Holidays). Responsibilities Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Classifies and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure their mathematical correctness, completeness of information, and appropriate accounting codes. Maintains automated double-entry bookkeeping ledgers and subsidiary ledgers, posting entries to accounts monthly. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Reviews and verifies accounting technician documents for accuracy. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents and resolves errors. Prepare and distribute financial statements, quarterly reports and other miscellaneous reports as required. Provides guidance and training to accounting technicians and activity personnel. Checks work in progress to assure instructions and work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. Serves as a Services Employee Timekeeping System (SETS) base administrator for payroll functions for all NAF employees. May perform supervisory duties in emergency or other short-term nonrecurring basis as assigned. Works under the direction of the NAF Accounting Office Manager. Position is a position of trust. Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead 3 or more employees performing cash handling and accounting duties. Must have experience in work which provided comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting system encompassing a number of diversified activities; ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledge and understanding of the regulations, guides and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledge of the accounting system sufficient to flow individual funds and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the system. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
