Position Description & Qualifications
Position Summary:
As Serco strengthens its commitment to integrated employment services in Calgary Alberta, we are seeking a dedicated Case Manager to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the Job Seeker’s primary and consistent point of contact, guiding them through every stage of their employment journey. By building trusted relationships, co-creating actionable plans, and providing ongoing coaching and support, you will help clients overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through personalized engagement, strategic planning, and proactive support that empowers Job Seekers to reach their goals.
As a Case Manager, you will play a central role in helping individuals develop confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve long-term employment success. Working as part of an integrated care team, you will collaborate closely with Service Navigators and community partners to ensure coordinated, client-focused services. Your efforts will drive sustainable outcomes by aligning resources, monitoring progress, and supporting Job Seekers through placement and sustainment.
Core Responsibilities:
As a Case Manager, you will:
Serve as the Job Seeker’s main point of contact and trusted advisor.
Conduct intake and assessment
activities (ERA/DERA) in alignment with policy.
Co-create, approve, and update individualized Action Plans in Compass.
Provide regular, relationship-based check-ins to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
Support Job Seeker self-advocacy, confidence, and decision-making.
Identify when wraparound supports are needed and request navigation support.
Introduce Service Navigators and facilitate warm handovers when appropriate.
Coordinate referrals to align with Action Plan goals.
Document case activity, decisions, and outcomes in Compass.
Support Job Seekers through employment placement and one-year sustainment.
Deliver services remotely using video conferencing, email, and phone when required.
Engage and motivate job seekers effectively in virtual and in-person settings.
Manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Resources, or related discipline.
Post-secondary education in a related field considered an asset.
Relevant tertiary education or equivalent experience in people-based case management, employment counselling, coaching, mentoring, rehabilitation, or a related human services field.
2–4 years of experience in case management, employment services, or a related field.
Previous experience in employment counselling, job coaching, career development, or similar roles preferred.
Strong understanding of the employment services landscape in Alberta and available resources for job seekers.
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and those facing complex barriers to employment – 2 years.
Experience developing individualized Action Plans based on assessment results – 1 year.
Experience coordinating referrals and Service Navigation across Employment Services and wraparound supports – 1 year.
Experience with Compass or comparable client information systems for referral, tracking, and documentation – 1 year.
Multilingual capacity and/or experience serving culturally diverse populations – 1 year.
Training in accessibility standards and inclusive service delivery, including accommodations for individuals with disabilities – 1 year.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage diverse populations.
Empathetic, client-centred approach to supporting job seekers from varied backgrounds.
Proficiency in remote communication tools (video conferencing, email, phone).
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management systems.
Familiarity with Compass or similar client information systems.
Understanding of social services sectors and key local organizations supporting specialized populations.
Ability to work effectively with Clients facing complex or multiple barriers to employment.
Strong documentation, communication, and time-management skills within outcome-driven service environments.
