Job Summary:

Responsible for field observation and inspection of capital construction projects during the summer months. Assist with daily safety checks, standards development and review, and process optimization.

Work Performed:

  • Attend pre-construction meetings and record notes.

  • Assist with construction inspection and monitoring of daily activities associated with the capital construction program. Inspect work performed by contractors.

  • Review construction and inspection records including but not limited to as-built drawings.

  • Interpret construction plans and contract documents.

  • Liaise with other groups and departments within the organization on project status and impact to operations.

  • Assists other production areas when needed, including but not limited to, control room operations and maintenance plant rounds.

  • Works on special tasks assigned by Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Enrollment in undergraduate Engineering or Construction Management or related program.

  • Ability to read, understand and use distribution system maps.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Good time management, organizational, prioritization and record keeping skills.

  • Basic computer skills, Word and Excel.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $17.50 per hour.

• Pay for holidays that fall during assignment.

ADA/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. assisted or 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Ability to climb in and out of trenches.

  • Able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
