JOB OVERVIEW

The Fiberglass Finisher III will be responsible for repairs of fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts. They are key drivers of delivering a flawless product by using a variety of skills. They will be responsible for inspection and understand fiberglass finishing. They will need to use a variety of tools which include but not limited to spray guns, buffers, grinders, drills and/or other specialty tools and fixtures. Fiberglass Finisher III with a high level of technical skills and a complete understanding of Boston Whalers construction methods. Demonstrated ability to instruct, train, and support team members in accordance with organizational standards and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Always follow proper safety procedures

  • Mentor employees in skill development and cross train fellow employees

  • Can efficiently perform standard work with minimal direction

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area

  • Assist fellow employees with defect reduction efforts

  • Must have a proven track record of excellent quality standards

  • Must possess the attitude and ability to develop the skill needed to produce high quality product.

  • Certified and able to use applicable restricted equipment in area (Cranes, Turner Dolly, Trailer Caddy, Fall Protection)

  • Must be able to read and interpret prints.

  • Must possess the ability and skills to perform trimming and hole cut functions without fixtures and templates from engineering drawings.

  • Certified and able to use applicable restricted equipment in area

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates proficiency in 80–100% of the finishing skill matrix, with a clear trajectory to achieve full mastery within one year, based off of business need.

  • Effectively trains and mentors new team members, ensuring consistent performance, knowledge transfer, and alignment with operational standards.

  • Lean Methodology Communication -Clearly articulates lean principles and methodologies to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Structured Onboarding Support -Provides comprehensive guidance to new hires, enabling smooth transitions and accelerated integration into team workflows.

  • Process Optimization- Identifies waste within processes and proactively drives corrective actions to enhance productivity and reduce inefficiencies.

  • Adaptive Communication Style -Speaks clearly and adjusts training approach to match individual learning styles, ensuring effective knowledge retention across diverse team members.

  • Proactive team player who is a self-starter with constant attention to improvement.

  • Must be very coachable, adaptable, and self-motivated.

  • Must show an ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Must possess strong organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work overtime as required to assure timely completion of projects.

  • Must show an ability to transfer knowledge to line employees through proper training.

  • Must interface well with line employees, supervision team, and departments throughout the company.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.

  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other team members.

  • Physical dexterity and the ability to perform tasks that may involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

  • Must have basic reading comprehension and writing skills, be able to work from verbal and written instructions, be capable of working with computer terminals and be able to complete routine paperwork.

  • Ability to remain extremely focused and organized with a high attention to detail / high degree of accuracy.

  • Able to work with multiple priorities and people.

  • This role will require a high level of energy, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Shop floor working environment.

  • Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels.

  • Frequent exposure to high temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months.

  • Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikes.

  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals.

  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.

  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $22.00 to $32.98 hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
