Position Overview
The Machine Technician (Levels I–III) plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment during non‑daytime shifts. This role supports continuous manufacturing by performing troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and preventive maintenance across a variety of machines, helping to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
Across all levels, Machine Technicians collaborate closely with production teams, maintain accurate maintenance records, and uphold all safety standards to ensure a hazard‑free work environment.
What You’ll Do (All Levels)
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and techniques.
Execute timely corrective repairs to support continuous production operations.
Partner with production staff to identify and resolve machine malfunctions impacting manufacturing output.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS.
Follow all safety guidelines, policies, and lockout/tagout procedures to maintain a safe work environment during 2nd and 3rd shifts.
Level‑Specific Responsibilities
Machine Technician I
Performs basic troubleshooting and standard preventive maintenance tasks.
Supports senior technicians with more complex repairs.
Applies foundational mechanical and electrical skills to maintain daily operations.
Machine Technician II
Independently troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex machine issues.
Demonstrates deeper technical proficiency across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Performs advanced preventive maintenance and root‑cause analysis with minimal supervision.
Machine Technician III
Expert-level troubleshooting for complex, multi‑system machine failures.
Leads and guides lower-level technicians on repair methods and maintenance best practices.
Performs advanced diagnostics, system adjustments, and high‑complexity repairs to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
What We’re Looking For (All Levels)
Required (All Levels I–III)
High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or related field.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial machinery.
Knowledge of electrical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Familiarity with CMMS platforms.
Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, including flexible and weekend hours as needed.
Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Commitment to safety protocols and compliance.
Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Basic welding or fabrication skills.
Level Differences
Level I: Foundational experience in industrial maintenance.
Level II: Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and repair more complex equipment issues.
Level III: Advanced diagnostics, expert problem solving, and ability to lead, mentor, or provide technical direction to other technicians.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments and requires the ability to:
Move throughout the facility to respond to issues across multiple areas.
Work effectively with cross‑functional teams using strong communication skills.
Perform computer-based tasks such as entering maintenance data into the CMMS.
