- Drug Delivery and Nanoengineering -- targeted therapeutics, nanomedicine, and controlled release systems
- Single-Cell and Spatial Omics Method Development -- wet lab expertise in microfluidics, sample preparation, molecular barcoding, and advanced techniques for single-cell and spatial multi-omics analysis
- Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine --stem cell, cell and tissue engineering, extracellular matrix, cell signaling and regulation, wound healing, cellular regeneration and repair, immune system interactions
- Synthetic Biology/Bioengineering -- design and modeling of biological circuits, protein engineering, cellular and molecular biology, genome editing, high-throughput screening
- Healthcare AI - multimodal data integration for risk prediction and treatment optimization, AI for image reconstruction, segmentation, and disease detection; application of machine learning and computational methods toward biomaterial, drug, or biologic discovery and optimization.
Other qualifications include strong leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Joint appointments with other engineering departments are possible, taking into account existing strengths, capabilities, and the candidate's preferences. Successful candidates will be appointed to an academic-year position in the tenure system, with the potential for tenure, if appropriate.
