Job Title: Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining plant equipment in optimal operating condition. This role involves utilizing preventive maintenance programs, correct maintenance procedures, and promoting safe workplace practices. You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment necessary for efficient product processing.
Responsibilities
Ensure optimal functioning of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing planned (preventative) and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment.
Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to ensure continuous production operation.
Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on plant and production equipment.
Troubleshoot and maintain diverse equipment including motor controls, BFD, refrigeration, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers, and packaging equipment.
Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards.
Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees to notify them of problems and/or concerns that may restrict production efficiency.
Ensure paperwork is complete, clear, legible, and accurate in accordance with SOPs.
Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities to improve processes.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Adhere to required safe work practices including lockout-tagout, wearing required PPE in designated areas, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired.
Minimum of two years experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
Minimum of two years experience with one or more required technical experiences: Electrical, mechanical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, HVAC.
Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtime.
Ability to evaluate, repair, and operate production equipment.
Welding skills and proficiency with hand and power tools required.
Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical operations and follow directions.
Proficiency in computer and accurate data entry skills.
Skilled operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts.

Work Environment
This role operates on the 3rd shift from 11pm-7am. The work environment is a standard production facility with exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature changes, particularly if maintenance must be completed outdoors. Products manufactured in the facility may contain peanuts and tree nuts. The position requires frequent operation of machinery, repetitive grasping of objects, and the use of various hand and power tools. Physical demands include sitting, climbing, standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays is required. Vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish color.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Brunswick, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr.
