Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Earth City, Missouri
Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a manufacturing team in Earth City, Missouri on a Contract basis. This role is designed to provide short-term support while the department works through a high volume of outstanding payables activity. The ideal candidate will bring strong invoice processing experience, sound attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle by reviewing vendor invoices, assigning appropriate coding, entering payment details into the system, and securing required approvals.
• Execute payment activities accurately and on schedule, including processing checks, electronic payments, and wire transfers.
• Compare vendor statements against internal records and resolve billing differences by working closely with suppliers and internal teams.
• Handle detailed payable transactions such as accrual entries, intercompany obligations, and credit adjustments with accuracy.
• Maintain vendor records by updating profile information and collecting required tax and compliance documentation to support clean master data.
• Review aging activity regularly and take action on open balances, unapplied credits, and other outstanding issues.
• Assist with broader accounting needs during busy periods, including support for accounts receivable and other general finance tasks.
• Follow established company guidelines, financial controls, and accounting practices throughout all payable activities. Requirements • Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, and payment processing.
• Proficiency with Excel, including the ability to use formulas to organize and review financial data.
• Experience entering vendor invoices with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to reconcile statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve payment-related issues efficiently.
• Familiarity with complex AP activity such as accruals, credit memos, and intercompany transactions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal departments.
