The Texas ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) Program Supervisor I (Cadre Supervisor) is responsible for the training and first-line supervision of assigned Team Leaders (Resident Specialists I-V). The Cadre Supervisor supervises the execution of the daily training schedule in a voluntary residential military style academy and is responsible for compiling required reports. The Cadre Supervisor reports directly to the Commandant nd works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Work Hours: Shift work as assignedESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversees the quality of care, treatment, training and support provided to Cadets. Oversees Cadets' safety, health and well-being; and responds to emergencies, injuries, or complaints according to policy and procedure; and ensures acceptable level of residential care services. Oversees communications between residential staff, TCA chain of command and other interested parties regarding important matters. Oversees Team Leaders in the performance of their daily duties; supervises and counsels all Team Leaders assigned to the team (5-7 Team Leaders). Collects, compiles and distributes information for weekly training schedules to ensure that all operational activities conducted by Team Leaders designated on the TCA training schedule are accomplished during the shift. Ensures that the Standards of Discipline are upheld. Provides limited first-line Team Leader and second-line Cadet counseling to improve performance, reduce friction, improve morale and maintain continuity. Ensures that record keeping, including the automated data information system, is accomplished in accordance with the TCA Standard Operating Procedures. Transports Cadets between locations (i.e. formations, physical training areas, work sites and for medical treatment as needed). Ensures that Cadet barracks, common areas and living conditions are properly maintained in accordance with established standards. Coordinates all scheduling, housekeeping, and administrative activities with the Commandant. Coordinates urinalysis testing with medical personnel, as directed by the Commandant. Analyzes and evaluates the progress and development of assigned Cadets and presents verbal and written reports. Attends relevant training to maintain the essential functions of the position. Assists in the development of program guidelines, procedures, and policies, and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends. Performs related work as assigned. Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies and procedures handbook. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:One (1) year (30 semester hours) of college or university is required (substitution allowed).PREFERRED EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in behavioral or social sciences, criminal justice, psychology or a related field is preferred.EXPERIENCE:One (1) year of experience working with youth who are emotionally/behaviorally at-risk and in enforcing disciplinary, safety and security measures is required (see substitution below). One (1) year of experience in a supervisory or department lead role. Experience with Microsoft Office, to include Word, Outlook and Excel is required.SUBSTITUTION:At least one (1) year of experience working in a residential care environment may be substituted for the required experience. Additional years of experience working with youth who are emotionally/behaviorally at-risk and in enforcing disciplinary, safety and security measures may be substituted for required education on a year-by-year basis. Three (3) years of military service that shows progression in duty performance and level of responsibility may substitute for the year of required experience working with youth who are emotionally/behaviorally at-risk and/or in a residential care environment.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience working with community outreach, you
