Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer designs and improves manufacturing processes for new and existing products to enhance productivity, quality, and profitability. This role analyzes production lines, develops and implements process improvements, and introduces in-plant technologies such as automated assembly and inspection. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, follows the PDCA cycle to achieve plant targets and KPIs, and presents improvement plans to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products, proposing efficient and scalable production solutions.

  • Study line KPIs for new models, define targets, and prepare production lines to meet or exceed these performance goals.

  • Resolve technical issues on the production line to ensure targets and KPIs are achieved.

  • Improve profitability through productivity enhancements, including labor savings, defect reduction, and reduction of equipment breakdowns.

  • Analyze and improve existing production lines based on current and projected volume trends to optimize productivity.

  • Establish in-plant technologies such as automated assembly and inspection, and deploy these technologies across multiple lines.

  • Create, define, schedule, implement, and monitor process improvements, ensuring they are standardized and sustained.

  • Perform cost estimates for improvement initiatives, including equipment, tooling, packaging, and installation costs, with appropriate supervision.

  • Develop and maintain clear work instructions and documentation to support standardized processes.

  • Collaborate with a team using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to achieve plant targets and key performance indicators.

  • Communicate and present improvement plans, results, and recommendations to senior-level executives in a clear and professional manner.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the plant, identifying opportunities and introducing new ideas to enhance operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on process design and improvement.

  • Strong background in process improvement within a manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with tooling selection, implementation, and optimization.

  • Ability to design and document manufacturing processes and work instructions clearly and accurately.

  • Demonstrated capability in continuous improvement methodologies, including use of the PDCA cycle.

  • Ability to analyze production line KPIs and volume trends to drive data-based decisions.

  • Skill in estimating costs for equipment, tooling, packaging, and installation related to improvement projects.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present improvement plans to senior-level executives.

  • Detail-oriented approach, ensuring all necessary details are considered to complete tasks effectively.

  • Ability to consistently introduce new ideas and demonstrate original thinking in a manufacturing context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with automated assembly and inspection technologies.

  • Experience in an automotive or similarly complex, high-volume manufacturing setting.

  • Strong documentation skills to create and maintain standardized work instructions.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled, and highly automated automotive manufacturing facility. The environment emphasizes precision, efficiency, and the use of advanced technologies, including automated assembly and inspection systems. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams on the production floor and in engineering settings, focusing on continuous improvement and optimization of automated lines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
