Job Description

This role operates heavy industrial CNC machinery in a steel fabrication environment, ensuring products meet precise measurements and quality standards. You set up material on the machines, follow clear step-by-step instructions, and use measurement tools to verify product accuracy. You document production details, help maintain equipment performance by reporting issues, and contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient production line on a third-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy industrial and CNC machines safely and efficiently in a steel fabrication environment.

  • Set up product and raw material onto CNC and related machinery according to production requirements.

  • Read and interpret tape measures, calipers, and basic blueprints to confirm correct dimensions and specifications.

  • Measure products regularly during production to ensure accuracy and adherence to tolerance requirements.

  • Notify supervision or maintenance promptly if product tolerances are out of specification or if equipment issues arise.

  • Perform minimal deburring of products to remove sharp edges and prepare parts for the next process.

  • Use a hand crane or similar lifting equipment to move material off the production line safely.

  • Follow detailed, step-by-step work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Meet minimum production output and throughput goals while maintaining quality standards.

  • Complete accurate documentation of errors, measurements, and product completion records.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.

  • Collaborate with your supervisor and team members within your assigned department to support smooth workflow across CNC machinery, weld booths, and racking areas.

  • Participate in training on day shift as needed before transitioning to the regular third-shift schedule.

Essential Skills

  • Proven heavy industrial machine operating experience, preferably in steel fabrication or steel cutting.

  • Hands-on experience with machine operation or CNC operation in a production environment.

  • Ability to read and accurately use tape measures and calipers for precise measurements.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints to understand product specifications.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with heavy industrial equipment.

  • Ability to follow detailed, step-by-step instructions consistently.

  • Ability to read and interpret measurement tools and verify product tolerances.

  • Willingness and ability to work third shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.), including training initially on day shift.

  • Ability to work safely in a loud, hot or cold, and dirty industrial environment.

  • Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in steel fabrication or steel cutting operations.

  • Experience working with CNC machinery in a high-volume production setting.

  • Familiarity with documentation of measurements, errors, and production completion.

  • Comfort using overhead or hand-operated cranes to move heavy materials.

  • Experience working within a team-based production department under a supervisor.

  • Openness to ongoing training, skill development, and cross-training across related processes.

Why Work Here?

You join a growing organization that invests heavily in training and long-term career development. The company offers strong stability and is expanding operations, creating opportunities for advancement and upward mobility. You receive structured on-the-job training, including time on day shift to learn processes thoroughly, and work in an environment that values long-term employment, skill growth, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

You work in an expanding industrial facility with approximately 120 employees and plans to grow into three full shifts. The site consists of two separate, older buildings that house large CNC machinery, weld booths, and racking systems. The environment is loud, dirty, and can be hot during warm months and cold in winter, so comfort with variable temperatures is important. You work in a specific department with a dedicated supervisor and set team, using heavy industrial equipment and hand cranes to move materials. The facility is undergoing upgrades to improve conditions and operations. Steel-toe footwear is required, along with adherence to all safety and protective equipment standards.
