Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

As an Assembler, you will perform detailed bench assembly of small parts for engine manifolds and related components, using hand and power tools to build, inspect, and prepare parts for shipment. You will follow step-by-step instructions and blueprints to complete mechanical assembly, apply precise torque measurements, and ensure each order meets quality, safety, and accuracy standards throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble small parts to engine manifolds and related components according to step-by-step instructions and blueprints.

  • Add washers, bolts, and other hardware to coolers and assemblies in the correct sequence.

  • Use torque tools to tighten fasteners to specific measurements and document any issues as needed.

  • Perform bench assembly work with consistent attention to detail and quality standards.

  • Add oil to parts or assemblies when required by the work instructions.

  • Complete minor paint touch-ups on parts or assemblies when needed to meet appearance standards.

  • Perform final inspection of assemblies and parts to verify quality, accuracy, and completeness.

  • Ensure orders and inventory are accurate, including verifying part counts and proper labeling.

  • Assist in loading completed assemblies into crates and preparing them for shipment.

  • Use pneumatic tools such as grinders, air ratchets, impact guns, and rivet guns safely and effectively.

  • Steam clean parts to remove dirt, chips, and contaminants prior to further processing or packaging.

  • Dip parts into rust remover and follow proper procedures for handling and treating components.

  • Oil parts prior to packaging to protect surfaces and prevent corrosion.

  • Band work pieces securely and prepare them for shipping according to company standards.

  • Work collaboratively with a supervisor and set team within assigned departments.

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • Previous assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and high-quality output.

  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.

  • Experience using hand tools and pneumatic tools, including grinders, air ratchets, impact guns, and rivet guns.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to complete assembly tasks correctly.

  • Proficiency using a tape measure and basic measuring tools to verify dimensions.

  • Capability to follow step-by-step written and verbal instructions consistently.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with repetitive tasks.

  • Reliability and punctuality to support a stable production schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production setting.

  • Familiarity with torque tools and tightening fasteners to specific measurements.

  • Ability to perform basic finishing tasks such as minor paint touch-ups.

  • Experience with cleaning and treating parts, including steam cleaning, rust removal, and oiling.

  • Comfort working around CNC machinery, weld booths, and racking systems.

  • Willingness to learn new processes and cross-train in different assembly tasks.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with supervisors and team members.

Work Environment

You will work on-site in a manufacturing facility that currently employs around 120 people and is expanding to three total shifts. This is an older facility split into two separate buildings, with large areas of CNC machinery, weld booths, and racking systems. The environment can be loud, dirty, and hot during warm weather and cold during the winter months, so you should be comfortable working in variable conditions and wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a production floor. You will be assigned to specific departments and work closely with a supervisor and a set team. The organization is actively working to upgrade the facility and improve the overall work environment. The standard schedule is first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional flexed start times as early as 5:00 a.m., depending on production needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dyer, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.40 - $22.60/hr.
