CyrusOne Critical Environment Operator IV in Durham, North Carolina

Under the direction of the Sr Facility Manager this role works as a team member in an Operations & Maintenance organization that provides a variety of O&M services within a 24/7/365 environment. Provides duties with constant awareness of the need to preserve the reliability of the critical load. Also provides operational support for building systems of other facilities as assigned. Responsible for carrying out maintenance and operations by performing the following duties personally or as a team member in a Data Center Operations & Maintenance environment.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Critical Environment Technician IV to provide strategic oversight and operational coordination for our data center facilities. In this role, you will partner closely with our Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) team to drive operational excellence, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement across all critical infrastructure systems.

This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep experience in critical infrastructure , BMS, EPMS , and data center operations combined with strong vendor management and communication skills.

What You’ll Do

IFM Team Oversight & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and the IFM vendor team

  • Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs and performance metrics

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and hold IFM team accountable

  • Coordinate daily operations and maintain proper escalation processes

  • Review and approve staffing plans, shift schedules, and resource allocation

  • Facilitate clear communication between IFM and internal stakeholders

Incident Management & Follow-up

  • Oversee and support IFM team during critical incidents

  • Track incidents from start to closure, ensuring timely followup

  • Verify thorough root cause analyses (RCAs) for major events

  • Review RCA accuracy, completeness, and corrective actions

  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive measures

  • Ensure all documentation aligns with compliance requirements

  • Escalate unresolved or recurring issues when needed

Assessment & Compliance Management

  • Review findings from audits, inspections, and assessments

  • Ensure IFM develops action plans for all deficiencies

  • Track remediation activity and verify timely closure

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in data center or critical environment operations

  • Strong background in critical infrastructure systems (electrical, mechanical, controls)

  • Handson experience with BMS (Building Management Systems)

  • Handson experience with EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems)

  • Experience managing or coordinating vendor or IFM managed operations

  • Strong understanding of incident response and RCA processes

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
