WSP USA Construction Materials Testing Technician III in Durham, North Carolina

WSP’s Engineered Construction team is growing, and we have opportunities for Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician III in Durham, NC to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. We are seeking experienced construction engineering inspectors, ICC, ACI and other certifications. We encourage you to apply to join our team of friendly, dedicated and collaborative professionals. Your Impact
Who You Are
Perform testing and inspections on general building sites and facilities
Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
Perform soil density testing using both nuclear gauge and drive tube in accordance with ASTM and project specifications on site at commercial construction projects
Perform Foundation inspections for various shallow foundations with dynamic cone penetrometer in accordance with testing standards and project specifications
Observe proof rolls and undercut operations
Perform reinforced concrete inspections in accordance with Special Inspections.
Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications
Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and density calculations and results
Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies
Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
5+ years Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial/industrial construction projects with emphasis on Soils and concrete.
ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
ICC Soils or Equivalent
ICC Reinforced Concrete or Equivalent
Valid Driver’s License and Good driving History
Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
Ability to prepare reports and documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Physical Demands
Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
