Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the facility and all related equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a growing fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
Perform break-fix and preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment to sustain and improve operations.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures and perform timely repairs on facility and production equipment.
Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems regularly to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
Install new equipment and move existing equipment as required to support production needs.
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs using blueprints, technical manuals, and vendor specifications.
Maintain an organized Maintenance Repair Area and keep all work areas clean and orderly while repairs are in progress.
Identify and request needed parts, supplies, and repair items to complete maintenance tasks efficiently.
React to machine breakdowns with a strong sense of urgency to minimize production interruptions.
Support and provide backup for other members of the maintenance department as needed.
Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and productivity.
Set up and operate simple machining operations, including lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools, to make and repair parts.
Perform basic welding tasks as needed for equipment and facility repairs.
Maintain inventory related to maintenance activities and ensure proper documentation of work performed.
Schedule and coordinate repairs to reduce impact on production and facility operations.
Complete technical self-study programs and ongoing learning activities for career development.
Follow all safety-related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines at all times.
Maintain situational awareness and actively identify and report unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support facility and production operations.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial, manufacturing, or facilities environment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures on production and facility equipment.
Electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to work safely around electrical systems and components.
Experience performing preventive maintenance and break-fix repairs on a variety of equipment.
Ability to read and work from blueprints, technical manuals, and vendor specifications.
Proficiency in facilities maintenance, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
Ability to set up and operate basic machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking equipment.
Capability to perform basic welding tasks for maintenance and repair work.
Strong sense of urgency when responding to machine breakdowns and production issues.
Ability to maintain an organized work area and manage multiple maintenance tasks effectively.
Commitment to following safety policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with leadership, production teams, and other maintenance staff.
Ability to work the assigned schedule and flex hours as needed based on business demands.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fabrication, welding, or metalworking environment is beneficial.
Familiarity with press brakes, welding equipment, paint processes, and assembly operations is a plus.
Comfort using basic hand tools, power tools, and metalworking equipment for repair and fabrication tasks.
Willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest ideas to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Motivation to pursue technical self-study and ongoing skill development for career growth.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment
This role is based in a mid-size fabrication shop of approximately 45+ team members, operating across two buildings. The facility includes paint, press brake, welding, and assembly processes, with production welding and dedicated welding bays. The shop primarily works with mild steel ranging from 20-gauge to 1-inch thickness. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with flexibility required to come in early, stay late, or work occasional Saturdays based on business needs. The workday includes paid breaks and one 20-minute paid lunch. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an attendance policy that expects reliable presence and proper notice for absences or lateness. Welding jackets and gloves are provided for welders, while employees are expected to supply their own welding hood and steel-toe footwear. Safety is a core priority, and all team members follow established safety rules, regulations, and guidelines while working with machinery, metalworking tools, and welding equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dunlap, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
