Engineer – Bridges & Civil Structures
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer – Bridges & Civil Structures to join our Dunedin team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a mix of technical delivery, site involvement, and client collaboration, with exposure to a variety of bridge and civil structural projects.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and technical leaders to deliver consultancy services across the inspection, maintenance, refurbishment, strengthening, and improvement of bridge and civil structures. The role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle – from investigations and design through to construction monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with structural inspections, condition assessments, and maintenance programming
Contributing to the design of remedial, strengthening, and improvement works for a range of bridge and structural assets
Preparing technical reports, cost estimates, and specifications
Supporting project planning, delivery, and financial tracking, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard
Collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal technical specialists across WSP
Applying New Zealand and international standards, best practice, and asset management principles to your work
About you
A tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline
3+ years experience in the design, inspection, construction, or maintenance of infrastructure, with bridge experience highly desirable
Strong technical skills with a willingness to learn and grow your expertise
The ability to communicate clearly through reports and client interactions
A clean, full NZ driver’s licence
Enthusiastic and motivated, enjoys problem‑solving and working as part of a collaborative team
