Insight Global Controls Engineer in Duncan, South Carolina

Job Description

Lead and train Controls Techs on new launch programming and troubleshoot production equipment issues, while writing and editing machine control programs to interface process equipment safely (e.g., programming light guards) and prevent malfunctions. Plan, design, develop, and implement new systems and processes by defining project scope and leading technical work; evaluate manufacturing hardware/software and equipment controls to resolve problems and recommend improvements across cameras, sensors, and mechanical systems integrated with PLCs. Create and lead automation projects to increase uptime and improve cost and efficiency, partnering with internal and external resources to meet project needs and expectations. Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and ensure compliance with automotive specifications, provide maintenance troubleshooting and production support, and train maintenance staff on new or updated equipment, all while maintaining a strong focus on machine safety, environmental compliance, and required safety procedures.

Skills and Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred

•3 to 5 years of work experience in a related field

•PLC programming experience required (Allen Bradley)

•Allen Bradley and Fanuc robotics experience strongly preferred

•Experience with ethernet I/P devices, printers, barcode scanners, and PCs preferred

•Excellent communication skills

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

•Ability to determine customer needs and develop project specifications/scope

•Ability to interpret and implement specifications

•Experience with Visual Basic, Python, and Ignition

•Must have working knowledge of English

•Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed; stand/walk/bend/sit for extended periods; maintain alertness to surroundings •Experience with Allen Bradley and Fanuc robotics

•Vision systems experience (Keyence, Cognex, Datalogic)

•Ability to upgrade used equipment to run more efficiently
