The purpose of this position is to manage the completion of multiple projects within the development engineering function in collaboration with other functions from concept to completion. This role will focus on Project Management and Delivery of material cost saving projects, new product introductions, equipment upgrades and process development activities.
Responsibilities
Develop, design, and evaluate equipment and/or processes, requiring novel and innovative approaches or major breakthrough in technology.
Ensure any Intellectual Property aspects of development are identified and protected in conjunction with the Corporate Legal group.
Develop advanced manufacturing processes using six sigma and lean guidelines to lower product standard cost
Conduct cost benefit and feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality of processes and support project justifications.
Investigate and evaluate existing and/or new technologies and coordinate associated project activities.
Provide support to operations, to optimize existing processes, and to ensure that production goals are met.
Ensure work is completed in a compliant manner with regard to both execution and documentation.
Liaise with Corporate R&D in the development of new product introduction projects and ensure that project timelines are met.
End to end project management for assigned projects including:
Creation of detailed capital requests
Creation of detailed project specifications, drawings, procedures, tender documents and where applicable comply with site GMP procedures
Design in health, safety and environmental best practice and ensure that all work is completed in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Provide detailed justifications for development projects and subsequently provide management to these projects in terms of leadership, time, costs and reporting.
Participate in the site Continuous Improvement Programme
Support of above activity through travel assignments as required.
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
Educational Requirements and Relevant Experience:
Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification with relevant experience
Project Management qualification a distinct advantage
Minimum 8 + years post qualification experience with at least 4 years of this experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industry
Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and cross-functional teams from concept through to completion.
Experience with high-speed automation projects is an advantage.
A proven ability to deliver projects from concept through to completion.
Must have the ability to manage concurrent priorities.
Must possess good attention to detail and flexibility of approach.
