ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S ADMINISTRATION BUILDING in Duluth, MN is seeking a INFECTION PREVENTION SPECIALIST to join our QUALITY MANAGEMENT team!
Salary Range: $37.48 - $54.35 Hourly
Schedule/Hours: DAY ONLY, 8 hours
Weekend Requirement: Generally No Weekends
FTE: FULL TIME, 1.000000 FTE
The Infection Prevention Specialist develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates the surveillance activities as set forth; educates all parties involved; and serves as a staff resource person.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Post-secondary degree, Associate's or Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited academic facility in nursing, epidemiology, medical technology, medical laboratory science or related health or sciences field required.
Experience: Three (3) years of directly related experience in a Hospital, Clinic, Public Health or other Healthcare setting
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Obtains Infection Control Certification within thirty (30) months (2.5 years) of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree.
Experience: Infection Surveillance, Prevention and Control.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification in Infection Control or eligible to become certified within thirty months (2.5 years) of employment. If education is Nursing, current Minnesota licensure as an RN.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles of communicable diseases and their transmission, and current infection control practices, possess skills in communication, coordination, consultation, and evaluation, and knowledge of current legal parameters in nursing practice; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff; understand, articulate, present and/or follow complex oral and written directions, exercise sound judgment and accept personal responsibility; teach patients and staff, retrieve and maintain statistical data, pursue continuing education and independent study.
READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
