Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary
The Executive Assistant to the Executive Director/Superintendent serves as a strategic partner and key operational support to the Executive Director in the primary areas of communication, marketing, and event planning. This role is highly collaborative and cross-functional, working closely with senior leaders and departments to ensure cohesive messaging, high-quality engagement, and successful execution of school- and district-level initiatives.
The Executive Assistant plays a critical role in shaping internal and external communications, supporting branding and marketing efforts, coordinating events, and serving as the primary liaison with the school’s third-party marketing partner. This position requires strong decision making, discretion, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, statewide virtual school environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility: Communication & Executive Support
Draft, edit, and coordinate internal and external communications on behalf of the Executive Director, including correspondence, announcements, presentations, and stakeholder-facing materials
Ensure consistent, professional, and mission-aligned messaging across departments and school levels
Support executive-level communications related to board meetings, leadership updates, public-facing initiatives, and strategic priorities
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information and PII
Marketing, Public Relations & Content Creation
Support the development and execution of school-wide marketing and branding efforts in collaboration with the Community Engagement and Innovation teams
Create and coordinate content for social media, newsletters, website updates, promotional materials, and campaigns
Ensure messaging aligns with the school’s mission, vision, and brand standards
Serve as the primary liaison with the third-party marketing firm, managing timelines, deliverables, feedback, and approvals
Assist in monitoring marketing impact and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement
Serve as the primary owner of district-wide marketing and event execution from planning through post-event evaluation
Event Planning & Cross-Department Collaboration
Collaborate with the Business Manager, Director of Operations, Community Engagement team, and Department of Innovation to plan and execute high-quality events, meetings, and engagements
Support logistics, communication, and coordination for statewide events, board-related functions, family engagement activities, and external stakeholder events
Assist with planning events that span multiple school levels and departments, ensuring alignment and operational readiness
Creation of event plans, run-of-show documents, and staffing assignments
On-site event leadership and issue resolution
Post-event debriefs, reporting, and archival of materials for future planning
Develop and present periodic reports on communication reach, engagement, and event effectiveness

Qualifications: Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Education, or a related field
Strong background in public relations, communications, marketing, and content creation
Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and digital content
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Professional judgment, discretion, and the ability to work with executive leadership
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the state of Georgia
Ability to work from the Duluth school office as required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in education, public sector, nonprofit, or charter school environments
Experience coordinating with external vendors or marketing agencies
Familiarity with branding, campaign planning, and event logistics
Experience supporting senior leaders or executive-level teams
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent travel throughout the state of Georgia to conduct official school business. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a clean driving record, and be comfortable with regular day trips and occasional overnight travel as needed. A reliable personal vehicle is required.
