Sensus, a Xylem brand, is seeking a Buyer/Planner to join the Materials team within the Gas Operations Group. This role is responsible for effectively planning, procuring, and scheduling materials from internal and external sources to support production requirements while balancing inventory, logistics, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
The Buyer/Planner works closely with Operations and cross‑functional partners to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules, customer demand, and business priorities. Through data-driven planning, strong supplier coordination, and effective collaboration, this role plays a key part in maximizing revenue and EBITDA performance while ensuring high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to:
Plan, procure, and schedule all assigned value stream materials to ensure on-time delivery to Sensus customers, for both finished goods and service parts demand.
Collaborate cross functionally with Scheduling, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and other areas, as required to support business and customer requirements.
Provide inventory analysis and valuation projections to the management team, as required
Evaluate and maintain the data and functionality of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) in the Sensus Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Includes purchase order maintenance, shop order maintenance, and MRP set-up/maintenance
Assist the Planning/Scheduling Supervisor, Materials Manager, Warehouse, and Cycle Counting team in root cause analysis and correction of inventory inaccuracies.
Assist in the design, implementation and control of consignment, vendor managed inventory (VMI) and Kanban programs
Support site Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Preferred Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business
3-5 years of industry and/or operational experience is preferred
APICS CPIM certification preferred
Experience working with and maintaining ERP Data (SAP preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge and experience using CI Lean Manufacturing Tools.
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Power BI
Working knowledge of Engineering Change management (ECR/ECN)
Demonstrated ability to analyze constraints, problem solve and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional areas.
Ability to comply with all required PPE, including safety glasses, Hi‑Viz vest, and safety‑toe shoes.
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
