Grant Thornton Director – Health\Public Sector Advisory in Dublin, Ireland

We are seeking a senior, client-facing Director to lead and scale Grant Thornton Ireland’s Healthcare and Education Infrastructure Advisory capability.

This role will initially focus on leading complex, high-value pursuits while building a sustainable and strategic pipeline over the next 18–24 months. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping our market presence, delivering impactful programmes, and driving long-term growth in this priority area.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Senior leadership experience within Irish public sector capital programmes (healthcare and/or education)

    Highly Desirable:

  • System-level perspective across estates, workforce, and digital health integration

    We welcome candidates from consulting, public sector delivery bodies, state agencies, or equivalent infrastructure leadership roles.

    Role Overview

    This is a highly commercial and delivery-focused leadership role. The successful candidate will:

  • Originate and shape strategic opportunities

  • Lead key client accounts and engagements

  • Support Partners in converting complex pursuits into secured work

    You will also be responsible for enhancing Grant Thornton’s external profile through senior stakeholder engagement, an established network, and thought leadership within healthcare and education infrastructure.

    Core Responsibilities

    Healthcare & Education Infrastructure Expertise

  • Lead delivery across healthcare capital programmes, including acute hospitals, elective care, and community/primary care infrastructure

  • Provide expertise in health estates strategy, capacity planning, capital prioritisation, and governance

  • Support education sector infrastructure programmes, including schools and further/higher education estates

  • Navigate and advise on the Irish public sector capital environment, including Public Spending Code, procurement, governance, and approvals

  • Translate policy, clinical, and operational requirements into practical, deliverable infrastructure solutions

    Programme & Project Leadership

  • Lead complex capital programmes, portfolios, and projects within public sector environments

  • Drive business case development, programme governance, assurance, and delivery controls

  • Deliver measurable outcomes across cost, schedule, risk, and service capacity

    Client Leadership & Business Development

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across healthcare and education sectors

  • Build and deepen client relationships, identifying and converting follow-on opportunities

  • Support Partners in bids, proposals, frameworks, and strategic account development

    Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across programme management, capital planning, and infrastructure delivery

  • Coach and mentor managers and consultants, fostering high-performing teams

  • Act as a recognised Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the firm

    Ideal Experience

    Healthcare System & Capital Insight

  • Strong understanding of how clinical models, workforce planning, digital health, and estates interact within healthcare systems

  • Experience delivering programmes in live healthcare environments and complex, politically sensitive contexts

    Education Infrastructure

  • Experience supporting education capital programmes, estate strategies, and long-term investment planning

  • Understanding of governance structures and demographic-driven capacity planning within the education sector
