WSP USA Senior / Principal Engineer – Vertical Transportation (VT) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Engineer – Vertical Transportation (VT) to join our Dubai-based team. This role will play a key part in the design, specification, coordination, and delivery of vertical transportation systems across a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, mixed‑use, aviation, hospitality, and major infrastructure developments.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, providing technical leadership and contributing to high‑quality, compliant, and innovative VT solutions.
Lead and deliver the design and specification of vertical transportation systems, including lifts, escalators, moving walks, and specialist systems
Prepare technical reports, drawings, schedules, and specifications in line with project requirements and relevant standards
Review VT designs prepared by others, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and best practice
Coordinate with internal disciplines (MEP, Architecture, Structures, BIM) and external stakeholders
Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and VT suppliers throughout the project lifecycle
Support tender evaluations, technical submissions, and contractor clarifications
Provide site support, including inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities
Contribute to mentoring and technical development of junior team members
Support business development activities where required, including proposals and client presentations
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 6+ years’ professional experience in Vertical Transportation (VT) design and consultancy, preferably within the Middle East market
Proven track record delivering VT systems on large‑scale, complex developments, including high‑rise, mixed‑use, commercial, hospitality, and infrastructure projects
Strong working knowledge of international and regional codes and standards, including EN, ISO, BS, and relevant local authority and civil defence requirements across the Middle East
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting programme, quality, and commercial expectations
Effective client, authority, and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience working within multidisciplinary consultancy teams
Chartered Engineer status or active progress toward professional accreditation is highly desirable
