The Control Systems Lead Project Engineer will act as the single point of contact for engineering on the project. You will develop a solid knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical control systems for turbines. You will coordinate technology resources in support of application of the correct customer solution. In this role you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers to develop and implement custom solutions that supply the world with energy. Design the solution, see it through manufacturing, and support commissioning at domestic and international customer sites. Job Description
What you’ll do
Provide engineering support for retrofit control systems under the overall management responsibility of the project manager. Be accountable for project deliverables, customer CTQ compliance, on-time schedule execution and team performance.
Apply electrical and mechanical engineering principles to analyze, propose, design, test, and troubleshoot control systems.
Lead Project team to achieve business Key Performance Indicators and on-time execution of the project deliverables, while ensuring conformance to applicable design practices & procedures, assuring product quality
Own the Project Engineering hours budgets and assign them to the project team(s).
Own the Project Milestone schedules and make sure all deliverables are provide on schedule.
Ensure regulatory compliance of deliverables
Review contract documentation and customer specifications for technical impact.
Provides mentoring, direction, and leadership to team members.
Design systems for interface to existing turbine control equipment, and evaluate all system components, requirements, and interactions.
Responsible to coordinate technical design reviews of projects and insure all required documentation is archived.
Apply knowledge of industry practices and international standards to produce high-quality and cost-effective designs.
Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing, and eventually installation and commissioning of control systems.
Frequently interact with customers and suppliers.
Demonstrated expertise in technical problem resolution, especially with regards to power plants operation.
Domestic and international travel may be required
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years' experience including a detailed understanding of power application with turbine-generator control systems for Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines or respective Excitation Controls.
Knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical control systems.
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a matrix management environment.
What will make you stand out
Familiarity with Non-GE turbines or Non-GE control systems.
Experience on ALSTOM Steam Turbines and Compressor Controls.
Experience on MarkV, MarkVI, MarkVIe and EX2100e Systems.
Familiarity on GE HMIs, Networking and Cyber Solutions.
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.
Green Belt certified, or other lean training.
Familiarity with the ControlST software suit.
Familiarity with power plant methods of communication and networking with DCS systems such as MODBUS.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving ability and adept at communicating with several levels of the organization.
Strong influence, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong process discipline with sound analytical and statistical skills.
Strong customer service mindset.
