Insight Global Remote Data Integration Engineer in Dranesville, Virginia
Job Description
A client of Insight Global's is seeking a Junior to Mid‑Level Data Integration Engineer to support healthcare data integration efforts on a cloud‑based Azure data platform. This role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, supporting existing pipelines and data workflows rather than designing architecture from scratch.
This position is well‑suited for candidates with early data engineering, ETL, analytics engineering, or system‑adjacent backgrounds who are looking to grow their skills in data integration within a stable, government‑supported environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support and enhance existing data pipelines using Python and SQL.
Work with data in CSV and Parquet formats.
Perform data transformations, mappings, and validation tasks.
Assist with testing data pipelines to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
Support data versioning across defined pipeline stages (e.g., Bronze/Silver/Gold).
Troubleshoot data issues and collaborate with senior engineers to resolve defects.
Document data processes, assumptions, and validation steps.
Support healthcare data workflows; HL7/FHIR exposure is a plus, not a requirement.

Skills and Requirements
2–4 years of experience in:
Data integration, data engineering, analytics engineering, ETL, or related roles.
Working experience with:
Python and/or SQL
Cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
Experience handling structured or semi‑structured data (CSV, Parquet, JSON).
Familiarity with Git or version control. Exposure to Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
Familiarity with healthcare or health IT data.
Awareness of HL7 or FHIR concepts.
Experience supporting production data pipelines (monitoring, validation).
