Dracut Public Schools Custodian in Dracut, Massachusetts
The Dracut Public Schools is seeking a custodian. This is a permanent position that requires a valid driver\'s license.\ Work cooperatively with the principal of the building and show courteous behavior and language in all situations with all people.\ Be familiar with proper use of custodial supplies such as detergents, soaps, powders, waxes and electrical cleaning equipment.\ Arrive every shift on time. Notify the principal whenever he/she leaves the building. Before the custodian leaves, security measures must be checked in reference to doors, windows, lights, lavatory areas, boiler rooms and boilers, night temperature settings, etc.\ Sweeps, wet mops, dry cleans, scrubs, wax, and buffers floors as needed. All floors, lobby, and corridor areas must be swept at the end of the school day.\ Washroom facilities must be kept clean and functional.\ a. Urinals must be thoroughly scrubbed and washed with disinfectant solution.\ b. Water closet bowls must be thoroughly brushed and disinfected.\ c. Floors must be mopped and rinsed regularly.\ d. Wash sinks must be kept clean.\ e. Mirrors must be kept clean.\ f. Plugs and drains must be cleaned whenever necessary.\ g. Ceilings, walls, baseboards, windows, windowsills, partitions, doors, exposed pipes, and exposed metal must be kept clean and proper.\ h. Waste receptacles must be provided and emptied regularly.\ i. Soap dispensers, towel dispensers, napkin dispensers, and tissue paper dispensers must be filled regularly and maintained in a functional condition,\ Complete the following routines for upkeep of school building facilities.\ a. Waste paper baskets and other litter receptacles will be emptied.\ b. Ceilings and walls will be spot cleaned.\ c. Lights, windows, windowsills, and fans must be cleaned.\ d. Blinds must be kept attractive and functional.\ e. Woodwork, Radiators and Unit Ventilators must be dusted and cleaned.\ f. Closets, cabinets, shelves and furniture must be dusted and cleaned.\ g. Metallic fixtures must be polished.\ h. Water bubblers must be kept cleaned.\ i. Transoms and baseboards must be dusted and cleaned.\ j. Risers, treads, and landings of stairs and stairways must be cleaned.\ k. Pencil sharpeners must be emptied and kept functional.\ Complete general handyman repairs.\ a. Install or replace window shades, blinds or sash cords.\ b. Free jammed doors, windows and desk drawers.\ c. Clear stoppers and fix leaks in sinks and bathrooms.\ d. Replace washers, valves, faucets, and small sections of piping when defective.\ e. Touch up cracks in plaster or cement and painting of walls and ceilings.\ f. Replace bulbs and fuses.\ g. Keep all mechanical equipment in a well-oiled and clean condition.\ h. Make minor adjustments and repairs to furniture and other building equipment\ Operate the heating and ventilating system properly so that the building is heated well and fuel is burned economically. Follow all safety regulations governing the operation of boiler and heating systems.\ Supervise and check all fuel deliveries.\ Keeps the outside grounds neat, tidy, and attractive.\ Sweep and wash down the steps and walks. Shovel snow and from entrances, walkways and exterior fire exits. Rock salt and sand will be used as necessary on all entrances and exits to prevent ice.\ Safeguard public school property and report any abuse of school property to principal.\ Keep accurate records of supplies and material used in cleaning and maintenance.\ Properly displays and stores USA flags.\ Sweep, clean and maintain proper order of storage rooms.\ Be aware of fire and accident prevention procedures. Be familiar with the care and operation of the various kinds of hand fire extinguishers. Devote special attention to preventing any potential fire hazards. Be familiar with fire drill procedures.
