Kaiser Permanente Systems Administrator III, Health Systems - Inpatient Pharmacy in Downey, California
Job Summary:
This Position will be responsible for interacting with inpatient pharmacy users regarding KP HealthConnect build primarily for inventory. In order to build the tools end users will be using to support inpatient inventory, a strong sense of inpatient workflows related to inventory management will be paramount in communicating back to inpatient pharmacy business.
This position is to be part of the Inpatient Inventory Project, tasked with implementing the Willow Inventory module across our acute care spaces. The System Administrator will be tasked with at first building out this module for their assigned locations but also the testing and deployment.
We are a national team providing service to the acute care pharmacy users for KP HealthConnect. We are tasked with building and maintaining the pharmacy end user experience within KP HealthConnect with regards to dispensing, inventory, and more. While we primarily work with NCAL and SCAL users, this position will provide support to the 4 acute regions outlined above.
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for system build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of assigned applications. This position will possess clinical or IT systems knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high quality care using the electronic health record. This position will perform in depth and precise investigation and documentation of future- state operational specifications and application functionality. Performing analysis of application capabilities workflows, data collection, report details, and other clinical and/or technical issues associated with Epic software. This position is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications. Some of the unique challenges this position will face include analyzing clinical and business operations and investigating user preferences; prioritizing & implementing requested system changes & updates; serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff. This position develops and documents internal procedures, collects information and prepares specifications of system enhancements, analyzes functionality in new releases and tests each new release.

Assists with application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments.
Supports vendor support activities, as appropriate.

Creates documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and reviews documentation of others.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR Minimum two (2) years scripting or programming experience.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum three (3) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years experience as a licensed health care practitioner (e.g., nurse, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, etc.).
Three (3) years system administration experience.
One (1) year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above)
One (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
Two (2) years experience working in a large matrixed organization.
Three (3) years experience writing documentation or standard operating procedures related to system administration.
Two (2) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration.
Two (2) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large of-the-shelf applications or software packages.
EPIC certification OR completion of an accredited EPIC Proficiency training program.
Inpatient pharmacy experience
Knowledge in inventory workflows in the inpatient pharmacy setting
Knowledge of pharmacy related systems including Pyxis ES, CII Safe, and Epic
Strong communicator
