Job Description

In this role, you will support the credit union’s delinquency management efforts by overseeing repossession activities for delinquent consumer loan accounts. This includes coordinating repossession assignments, monitoring recovery progress, managing vehicle disposition through auction partners, and assisting members in resolving past-due accounts.

This position is well suited for someone who is organized, analytical, and able to balance member communication with effective collateral recovery practices while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Delinquency and Member Account Management

• Monitor and collect delinquent consumer loan accounts.

• Handle incoming and outgoing calls related to past-due accounts and respond to member inquiries.

• Perform account reconciliation and review payment history to ensure account accuracy.

• Educate members on the importance of maintaining accounts in good standing and available resolution options.

• Analyze the cause of delinquency and propose appropriate solutions such as payment arrangements, extensions, or loan modifications.

• Conduct skip tracing to locate members and/or collateral when necessary.

Repossession and Collateral Recovery

• Assign auto loan accounts for repossession.

• Coordinate with repossession agents and obtain progress updates and status reports.

• Manage relationships with auction partners to facilitate the timely disposition of repossessed vehicles.

• Ensure Notices of Intent and deficiency letters are prepared and delivered within required timelines.

Insurance and Claims Processing

• File skip claims with collateral protection insurance vendors when required.

• Ensure warranty and GAP policies are cancelled following the sale of repossessed vehicles.

• File GAP claims when applicable.

Compliance and Operational Responsibilities

• Ensure all repossession and collection activities comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other applicable federal and state regulations.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to repossession and account activity.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and one year of related experience or training.

• Experience working with delinquent accounts, collections, or repossession processes within a financial institution preferred.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with members, vendors, and internal teams.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

The pay range for this position is listed above. Our pay ranges are designed to allow for candidates with various levels of experience and skill to be considered, and to allow room for growth to be achieved in a role over time. Generally, new hire salary offers fall within the minimum to midpoint of a pay range for many candidates. Any offer extended to a candidate will be based upon their individual combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and education as well as internal equity.
